Community Learning Network (CLN) Team Profile

  • A CLN is established for each BTG Project
  • Their role is primarily to support and guide the implementation of BTG (i.e.: selection of participants, skill set design and trouble shooting)
  • CLN composition is community-based and therefore, varies by region
  • Typically consists of representation from the participating business, government (federal and provincial), educational provider and zonal/sub-zonal groups

The CLN establishes subcommittees to address different areas of the BTG Model such as:

  • Business Partner Assessment and Selection
  • Training Participant Assessment and Selection
  • Skill Set Design
  • Ongoing Evaluation

The CLN meets on a monthly basis and subcommittees also have a structured meeting time or as deemed necessary by the subcommittee members The composition and the dynamics of Local CLN may vary from region to region.

Traditionally, the team members include representation from the:

  • Proponent or Sponsor Organization
  • Business Partner
  • Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
  • Union (if applicable)
  • Private or Public Colleges (eg: College of the North Atlantic)
  • Provincial Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment
  • Regional Development Boards
  • Provincial Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development
  • Service Canada
  • Employment Services
  • Ability Employment Corporation
