Vision and Key Goals

You are here now : Home / The BTG Model / Vision and Key Goals

When labour supply does not match workplace demands because there is a shortage of labour, it can mean that employers may not have access to employees that have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience required to do the work.

Many industry sectors have skills challenges due to increased competition from other provinces/ territories, a rapidly aging workforce and a variety of training related issues, it is increasingly important, therefore, to build solid partnerships between industry, labour, government, NGOs and training institutions.

Labour markets play a critical role in society. Employment is usually the means through which people are able to increase their economic self reliance, thereby enhancing their overall wellbeing and the ability to contribute to a healthy and prosperous society. It also means employers are able to access the human resources they need to compete and contribute to a diversified and productive economy.

Objectives

To apply a flexible, working, community-based model to assist in meeting the needs of unemployed /under-employed workers, resulting in an increase of skilled labour.

To enhance the human resource potential that maximizes business growth and success, which builds strong vibrant communities.

Key Goals

Based on 13 years of development, testing and evaluating, the BTG Model is ready to present to government as one solution to provide an educated, highly qualified, skilled workforce to meet the labour market needs in our province and country.

Future Opportunities

  • A multi-faceted approach to workplace learning that engages the private sector, public sector, post-secondary institutions, government and non-government agencies in the development and implementation processes.
